LAFAYETTE ZOOTS 5-1 OVER CHAFFEY

In a game that did not see alot of hitting the Lafayette Zoots came out on top of Chaffey 5-1. Max Engelbrekt threw all 7-innings while only giving up 4-hits and 2-earned runs.

The Zoots scored 3-runs in the 2nd, 1-run in the 4th and their last run in the 6th inning. Chaffey scored there sole run in the 6th when Seth Heck doubled into right center, Chris Guinn followed with an infield hit, Michael Conforto then singled into right to score Seth.

Chris Guinn and Robbie Ingram each went 2-for-3 at the plate, Chaffey in their first at-bat had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs but, could not take advantage and push runs across the plate.

Chaffey will be hosting the Zoots tomorrow morning again at the UW with a starting time of 9:00 am.

CHAFFEY DROPS GAME TO LAKESIDE

Lakeside Legion put two-runs on the board in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 3-runs in the 5th to drop Chaffey 11-4 last night at the U.W.

Chaffey scored all 4-runs in the bottom of hte 3rd when Chance Laboda drew a base-on-ball, Mitchell Gunsolus ran for Chance, JoJo Howie followed with a walk, on a double steal both runner advanced up one base, Seth Heck hit a fielders choice to score Mitchell from 3rd, Chris Guinn then doubled into left scoring JoJo, Dylan LaVelle then doubled into left center scoring Chris, Cody followed with a single up hte middle socinr Dylan and Chaffey's 4th run of the game. Dylan finished the game going 2-for-3 with double and 1-RBI.

Obi Taylor threw the first 3-innings, Mac Acker threw the 4th and 5th innings, with Conner Campbell and Anthony Blackie throwing the 6th and 7th innings.

Chaffey will be hosting Layafette Zoots at the UW this afternoon with a 3:30 pm start time.

CHAFFEY WINS BRANDY PUGH FOR 6TH TIME

Chaffey Baseball won the Brandy Pugh Memorial Tournament for the 6th time and the 3rd-time in the past 4-years.

It was a team effort throughout the 6-day tournament with everyone contributing in the wins for Chaffey to go undefeated through pool play and then into the Championship game with a 14-0 win over the Twin City Titan's.

In a team effort on the offensive side Chaffey had 63 hits and scoring 53 runs - while hitting a team average of .396 at the plate with 22-extra base hits in the 6-games. On the defensive side the pitchers on gave up a total of 32 hits over the 6-games averaging just overaging just over 5-hits per game.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning Chaffey took a 3-0 lead - Seth Heck singled into left, Mitchell Gunsolus then drew a walk, Chris Guinn singled into left scoring Seth from second for Chaffey's first run of the game. Mitchell advanced to second and scored on an attempted pick-off at 2nd base, Michael Conforto doubled into right center scoring Chris from 2nd.

Chaffey added 2-more runs in the bottom of the 3rd when Dylan LaVelle singled into left, Robbie Ingram doubled into left scoring Dylan from 1st, Kasey Bielec singled up the middle moving Robbie over to third, Seth then hit a sac-fly into right to score Robbie and give Chaffey the 5-0 lead. Dylan finshed the game going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Mitchell Gunsolus lead off 4th with a double into left center, Michael then drew walk, Dylan Davis then doubled off the wall in left scoring both Mitchell and Michael, Dylan LaVelle followed with a single into left scoring Dylan from 2nd, Bubba Jones then doubled into right moving Dylan to 3rd, Robbie Ingram then walked to load the bases - Cody Reed came in for Robbie to pinch-run. Kasey Bielec then hit an infield single to score Dylan from 3rd and leave the bases loaded, Seth was hit-by-a-pitch forcing in Dylan LaVelle, Anthony Blackie came in and pinch hit for Michael and singled up the middle scoring both Cody and Kasey, Max Engelbrekt drew a walk, Zach Abbruzza came in to pinch hit for Dylan and singled into center scoring Seth for Chaffey's 14th run of the game. Kasey finished the night going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Dylan LaVelle threw the first 4-innings not allowing a run to score and only giving up 3-hits for the win. Conner Campbell came in and closed out the game throwing 1-inning and only allowing 1-hit.

The All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of the Tournament with Bubba Jones as the All-Tournament 1st basemen, Michael Conforto as the All-Tournament outfielder, Dylan LaVelle as the All-Tournament pitcher and the MVP for the tournament was Dylan Davis.

Chaffey will be hosting Lakeside Legion on Thursday night at the UW with the game start time at 5:00 pm.
